THE SHADOW WORK
I emerge from a rip in the world,
bare, seeking my dark twin.
Like a lake mirroring the sky,
she reminds me there’s no
hiding from within.
Jealousy proliferates scores of
red poppies in my garden. We weed.
A purple snake sighs, so satisfied
with a crush of my windpipe.
We eye my abyss; probe resentment
radiating from my fist. I free creativity
